Angela Bennick to lead Kitsap Public Utility District

POULSBO, WA – This afternoon, the Kitsap Public Utility District (KPUD) Board of Commissioners appointed Angela Bennink as KPUD’s next general manager. Selected unanimously by the Board, Bennink will begin her duties as general manager on February 1, 2022, working side-by-side with current General Manager Bob Hunter who will retire on February 28, 2022.

After a lengthy competitive process beginning this past October, resulting in an impressive candidate pool, the Board of Commissioners ultimately chose Ms. Bennink, KPUD’s current Telecom Director, to serve in the top role of the organization. Bennink will be KPUD’s fourth general manager, and the first female to lead the organization in this position. Throughout her career, Bennink has built trust and developed a nation-wide network of contacts across the public telecommunication utility industry, within government agencies, and across communities. The breadth of knowledge and skills that she brings are complemented by her training and experience in chemistry, biology, and engineering.

“I am excited to continue on with KPUD in the general manager role. The sense of commitment I hold for this utility and Kitsap communities is heartfelt. I’m looking forward to leading an amazing team that strives daily to effect change by ensuring the availability of safe and clean drinking water, reliable water resources, cutting edge wastewater treatment, and high-speed internet access,” said Bennink.

Board President Heather Pauley spoke on behalf of the entire Commission, saying, “We are confident in and excited to see Angela take KPUD to the next level. We are an established community-centered, long-standing partner both locally and regionally, and we intend to strengthen what we already have to offer and continue to expand these connections.” Commissioner Debra Lester agreed and added, “As Telecom Director this past year, Angela and her team were awarded over $11 million in broadband grants for Kitsap County. As new general manager, this success will be vital as we work to  identify potential funding sources for water and wastewater infrastructure as well.”

The Board extends their sincerest gratitude to Bob Hunter for his leadership, passion, and dedication to KPUD over the past 36 years. More information about KPUD can be found at Kitsap Public Utility District - Home (kpud.org)
