Kitsap County – Top Employers, Hiring

Private and public sector employers across the county noted a continuing demand for both skilled and entry-level workers in most sectors. The labor market tightened with the unemployment rate dropping to a reported 3.4 percent. The Department of the Navy is currently posting 54 civilian positions including jobs at both Bremerton and Bangor, while private defense contractors continue to post job openings at a swift pace. Lockheed Martin notes 17 open positions in Kitsap. A number of area manufacturers appear to be reducing the number of jobs posted, that said, welders and electricians continue to be in high demand. Port Madison Enterprises, one of the largest employers in the county, currently has 69 openings across its construction, leisure and hospitality, and retail entities. Open positions in healthcare have been holding steady. St. Michael Medical Center currently notes 85 open positions posted as compared to 81 noted in the previous report. Examining local government jobs, Kitsap County currently has 18 positions posted. The City of Bainbridge Island hiring remains steady at six openings as does Bremerton with 15 open positions.

The cities of Port Orchard and Poulsbo are hiring for law enforcement positions, three and two, respectively. In the financial arena, Kitsap Credit union currently has 13 opportunities at this time.
